Who is Peter Barnes?

tajI’ve worked full time as a writer for eight years and as a freelancer for the last four. In that time, I’ve written for a range of businesses and magazines, regional and national alike, while spending about two years copy editing the trade journals Homeland Security Today and National Guard Today. I started my career in the world of newspapers, where I worked for the Spokane Spokesman-Review and briefly for the Associated Press after graduating from the University of Missouri. You can find my traditional resume and samples of my writing at my journalism-focused site, www.reporterbarnes.com.

I live in Portland, Ore., with my wife and fellow Mizzou grad Stephanie.

Why hire him?

I’ve spent most of my professional life distilling complex topics into engaging, readable stories. I’ve demonstrated my commitment to accuracy and clean editing in the publishing world. I offer my business clients engaging copy on time and tailored to their unique needs.

Says who?

Chris Hingle, Principal, Christopher Frederick Search Consultants:

“I first hired Peter for an email campaign in 2009, and his work has been crucial to my marketing strategy ever since. His professionalism, his integrity, but most of all his talent as a writer have made a very real contribution to my business.”

David Silverberg, Founding Editor, Homeland Security Today:

“I am delighted to recommend Peter as an editor and researcher. He has done excellent work in a reliable and enthusiastic way. I particularly want to recommend his work on the annual Homeland Security Today list of the top 25 companies in the field. Peter took complex, confusing data, organized and ranked it, checked it rigorously and produced outstanding results. They were a credit to the magazine and served as an industry standard, being cited in official analyses of the homeland security industry. Peter was very easy to work with, was always available and brought great judgment and intelligence to any piece he was assigned. He was a great asset to our organization.”
